WANT
TO BE IN THE MOVIES
Some
time ago a letter was directed to the film industry that pretty well
described Oklahoma and invited production companies to Oklahoma. "Next
time you're considering a location call us and let us prove how Oklahoma
can make your shoot as easy and economical as it can be.
The
letter started by saying "More and more, film producers are discovering
Oklahoma as a great site for their location shooting." The letter
went on to relate "They find dramatic settings like mountains,
towering pine forests, volcanic mesas; rich scenes of lush green grass,
rolling prairies, colorful farmland, vast ranches; and miles upon miles
of lakes, rapids, salt plains, and even desert sand dunes." Continuing
the letter said "They can choose from small towns or major metropolitan
hubs, with the flavor of many periods, like the Old West, the Victorian
Age, Western Gothic, Art Deco and today's Architectural Splendor."
The
letter pointed out "They can resource from a vast pool of professionals,
from location scouts to writers, musicians to actors, stylists to costumers,
animators to the entire crew. Talent that delivers that extra effort,
with a genuine enthusiasm to make the product the best it can be."
"As
Governor, I pledge my support and the full cooperation of my staff to
ensure that each production is given the incentives and full attention
to detail it deserves." Signed by then Governor Henry Bellmon.
It
was at this point in time that The Hayden C. Hewes, Agency, Incorporated
and published the NEW FACES and Visual Images magazine
(as shown above) and its direction established. Twelve years later in
1998 the name was changed to Oklahoma Casting to supply talent
for the growing movie business. What Governor Bellmon wrote almost two
decades ago, still holds true today.
We
will welcome your comments, suggestions and questions and look forward
to working with you. Until then, I remain ... "Starman".
